Journalist from Chitral to get professional training in the United States

Mr. Zar Alam Khan, a linchpin of team Dardistan Times, has been selected by USEFP to get professional journalism training in American media organizations. Zar Alam is a resident of Yarkhun Valley in Chitral and is one of the early volunteer contributors of Dardistan Times.  He is professionally associated with daily Dawn (Islamabad) for the last 10 years and is currently working as a sub-editor. He manages his own community newspaper (www.chitraltoday.com)

The visit of Pakistani media persons to the US is being arranged by the American government under the US-Pakistan Professional Partnership Program for Journalists. Newsmen from the electronic media have already left for the US under the program.

The USEFP had invited applications for the program in November 2010 in which about 13,000 candidates from all over Pakistan had applied. Later, it conducted test and interview of the short-listed candidates in April this year.
